Click on the link on DYMO's Web site to run what amounts to an account setup wizard, enter your name, address, credit card or bank information for postage charges, and download and install the program. With DYMO Stamps, you just pay for the labels.Īssuming you already have an appropriate DYMO printer installed, setting up the DYMO Stamps program is easy. That adds about 7.5 cents to the cost of each postage label (Read: stamp) that you print, but keep in mind that with or a postage meter, you'd still have to pay for labels over and above the monthly fee.
You also have to buy the labels, at $14.99 for a 200-label roll. Earlier DYMO models won't work, according to DYMO, because they don't have precise enough control over the advancement of the label roll to ensure the correct placement of the postage information on the label. The catch, of course, is that to use the program, you have to have one of the three printers it works with.

If you already happen to have one of those printers, or buy one that doesn't have the program in the box, you can download software for free through the DYMO Web site. And you don't even have to pay anything for the software you need, because DYMO plans to start bundling it with most of its current generation of label printers-the DYMO LabelWriter 400 Turbo, DYMO LabelWriter Twin Turbo, and DYMO LabelWriter Duo. That makes it practical even for people with low volumes of outgoing mail. The key attraction to DYMO Stamps is that there's no monthly fee. If you're in the same boat, DYMO Stamps may be the solution you never thought you'd find. Either one would easily quadruple my postage costs, which is more than enough reason to live without the convenience of never running out of stamps.
